The VDI Revolution

There has been a great revolution in how we work, employees have the flexibility to work anytime, anywhere, any place, transforming how we all do business. This revolution is happening, whether businesses like it or not. Employers need out how best to empower their employees to use their mobile devices for work, cutting expenses and increasing productivity. A virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) can help put your business on the fast track to secure an effective "bring your own device" (BYOD) solution.

Virtual desktop solutions are the future and leave traditional desktop-based IT looking old fashioned and cumbersome. A virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) centralizes the operating systems and software management. Willing to migrate to a new operating system? Updating systems with the newest patches? All that only needs to be accomplished once with VDI. Companies can save a considerable amount on buying mobile devices if the employees use their own gears to access their virtual desktop. "Bring your own device' (BYOD) working is a sole win-win scenario. As well as saving the company funds, workers become more responsive and productive since they can work at any time, from anywhere using their favorite device. In fact, Intel's report 'Insights on the Current State of BYOD in the Enterprise' revealed that the IT managers ranked improving the worker productivity as the top advantage they expected to gain from the "bring your own device" (BYOD) working, ahead of the cost savings.

This is an employee-led revolution; companies that can tap into the employees' firm desire to advance their working lives by employing superior better solutions will be the frontrunners in their market. Organizations have not been slow to perceive the advantages of BYOD. A Cisco IBSG survey found most companies are pushing ahead with the BYOD, with 95% of respondents saying that their companies allow the employee-owned devices in some shape or form in the office. Half of those reviewed were also busy executing the desktop virtualization. Companies can even build a platform that automates the provisioning, further condensing the load on the IT resources and packages.

Unscheduled downtime is not a technical issue forever. Floods, Snow, or public transport issues might prevent the workers from getting to work. Or people facing a long commute into work with heavy traffic could better utilize their time by working remote.
