Virtualization and Mobility Expo

 VMXpo Austin, TX - September 25, 2014

As many of you know, Whitehat Virtual sponsored a large regional event last year to highlight all aspects of the IT virtualization marketplace. It was called VMXpo (virtualization and mobility expo), and it was a phenomenal success. Take a look at this video that gives you a feel for the event:

The format will include:

  • Keynote by Doug Brown. This session will set the stage for the day with an energetic discussion about the past, present, and future of application and desktop virtualization from Doug's unique perspective, which is based on his extensive experience in the field.  This session takes a glimpse at where we have come from through the progression to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and finally how this history is the basis of the future, with the advent of the mobile centric world we find ourselves in.  Doug has a very distinctive way of presenting his experiences and views.  This session is certain to be entertaining and informative.

  • XenMaster Contest. Think you're a pretty good Citrix engineer? Ready to show off your skills after all of those long hours spent studying for exams and working on Citrix issues long into the night?  Are you ready to see how your skills stack up to your peers?  Then the Citrix XenMaster contest might just be your opportunity to show off your skills, pad your resume, and declare yourself the undisputed Citrix heavyweight champion of Texas.  describe the image

Several identical Citrix XenApp farms, one per contestant, will be setup that are all broken in a variety of ways with issues ranging from very simple to very complex.  While Citrix XenApp can touch a variety of different sub systems (SAN, Active Directory, the network, hypervisor, etc.) the issues themselves will all be contained within XenApp 6.x to keep the contest as straightforward and consistent as possible. Each contestant will be presented with a broken Citrix XenApp farm and will have a certain amount of time to identify and resolve as many of the issues they find as possible.  The winner will be the Citrix engineer that resolved the most issues in the time available.

The last man or woman standing will be crowned Citrix XenMaster, earn the unofficial certification Citrix Certified XenMaster, or CCX, complete with certificate.  The winner will also be awarded the official Citrix XenMaster trophy and receive a VISA Gift Card valued at $500.  As the number of participants grows, so will the awards. This should be great fun...

  • Training Bootcamp. Ken Avram, one of Whitehat's Managing Consultants, is also a Citrix Certified instructor, and has been for the last 8 years. In addition to setting up and running the Citrix XenMaster contest, which will be very educational for those that participate in its own right, Ken will provide FREE Citrix Training in two very valuable classes right here in Austin, TX at VMXpo.
